Seven Days with Lord Muruga: A Journey of Fasting, Faith, and Energy

MURUGAN

My Pepper Water Fasting journey with Lord Muruga became a sacred experience of self-discipline, surrender, and divine energy. Each day began before sunrise — waking up at 4 a.m., bathing, and praying to Lord Muruga with a heart full of devotion. I tested my body’s energy daily through push-ups and ab workouts in the morning and evening, while my mind remained absorbed in His divine presence.
This seven-day journey proved that when faith leads, the body follows — turning the impossible into possible.

Day 1 & Day 2 – The Beginning of Grace

The journey began with freshness, energy, and deep peace. On Day 1, I started my fast with one pepper seed and water after my morning prayer. Each day began at 4 a.m., with a sacred bath and offering prayers to Lord Muruga. I consumed four liters of water — two at college and two at home — keeping my body hydrated and light. I performed my push-ups and ab workouts in the morning and evening to test my energy levels. There was no hunger, no fatigue. My body stayed active, and my mind remained focused on Lord Muruga’s blessings. These first two days laid the foundation — calm, strong, and deeply spiritual — as my inner energy began to awaken.

Day 3 & Day 4 – Flowing with Devotion

Waking up every day at 4 a.m., bathing, and praying to Lord Muruga, I continued my fasting with steady faith. Each morning and evening, I completed my push-ups and ab workouts, feeling light, alert, and strong. Hunger appeared briefly around 5 p.m., but Lord Muruga’s grace carried me through with ease.
When teaching and interacting with my students, I never felt that I was fasting — my mind was engaged, and my energy constant. Only during quiet evenings did a hint of emptiness arise, but even that became a space of silence and devotion. By the end of Day 4, my body had adapted beautifully, and my heart overflowed with gratitude for Lord Muruga, who guided every step of this journey.

Day 5 & Day 6 – Strength, Surrender, and Divine Energy

Both these days began at 4 a.m. with a sacred bath, followed by prayers to Lord Muruga.
After taking five pepper seeds with water, I performed my workouts — four sets of 15 push-ups and three sets of 10 ab rolls — in both the morning and evening. Listening to Kanda Sashti Kavasam and Vel Maragal filled me with immense devotion. I spent the day working creatively on my WordPress blog design, exploring new plugins and features with focus and joy. By Day 6, I realized how powerful grace truly is — what once seemed impossible had become natural. I completed 60 push-ups and ab roller workouts morning and evening, still feeling strong and light. As evening approached, I joined in the divine vibration of Kanda Sashti, witnessing the Sura Samharam — Lord Muruga’s victory over Surapadman. The energy of that moment was electrifying; my heart was overflowing with devotion. I decided to complete my fast on Day 7 afternoon, after Lord Muruga’s wedding with Devasena.

Day 7 – Completion and Realization

As always, I woke up at 4 a.m., bathed, and prayed to Lord Muruga with deep reverence. I performed my push-ups and ab workouts in the morning, feeling strong and calm. The day at college went as usual, but my thoughts stayed with Lord Muruga throughout. As I neared the end of my fasting, a subtle thought came — “Will completing my fast take me farther from Lord Muruga?” But soon I realized the truth: He is not separate from me. He lives within my soul. My body is His temple, and I must care for it with the same devotion with which I worship Him. With that understanding, I completed my seven-day pepper water fasting under His divine grace. It was not just a fast — it was a transformation of energy, faith, and consciousness.

This seven-day journey taught me that real strength arises from surrender. Through the grace of Lord Muruga, I found perfect balance between body, mind, and soul. Every sip of water, every push-up, every ab roll, and every prayer became a meditation. What began as a physical fasting practice evolved into a divine experience — a journey inward, guided by Lord Muruga’s eternal presence. The Pepper Water Fasting ended not as a conclusion but as a new beginning — a reminder that when the body becomes still and the mind becomes silent, the divine begins to shine.
